Why all the rules regarding checks? Checks, cashiers check and money order fraud and the attendant crime of identity theft is a big problem in the Phoenix metro area. One common scam encountered in conducting business online, is for the thief to send payment, which the seller deposits unaware that the check is worthless, while the thief disappears with the goods. Sometimes the person committing the fraud, writes the check over the amount required and asks for the seller to "return them the extra funds" in cash when the seller cashes the check and delivers the goods. Some art sells for a lot of money so art is a common target of these scammers, but in our experience there is no amount of money a would be scammer would consider too low to target. Once bitten, twice shy.
Therefore Art & Business Consulting LLC (ABC LLC) the operator of XmasDementiaCartoons.com may accept Payment by Check or Money Order for original art and prints. However our conditions are restrictive.
- The Check or Money Order must be made out to Susan
Beckman.
Why? Because ABC LLC is going to the bank the check is drawn on to verify funds, to cash it and the bank will require someone to produce ID. ABC LLC, the operator of AKAJake, will not accept checks made out to any party other than Susan Beckman with out prior written approval. (Susan Beckman is the managing member of ABC LLC).
- The Check or Money Order must be mailed to PO Box 97247 Phoenix AZ 85060 USA.
- The Check or Money Order must be in US dollars.
- The Check or Money Order must payable by a US bank having branches in the
Phoenix Arizona USA metropolitan area.
Why? Because ABC LLC needs to be able to cash the check or money order at the bank that the check or money order is drawn on. Only the originating bank can tell right away if the funding source is authentic. Given that Phoenix is the 5th largest city in the US and there are lots of banks here, the buyer should be able to find a bank meeting this criteria.
- ABC LLC will not accept multi-party checks
- There may be a long processing delay to verify that the Check or Money Order is authentic and the funds are available, before the transaction is completed, this is especially true for checks drawn on non US banks.
- Unless the Check or Money Order is made out to a bank local to the Phoenix metro area, and can be cashed at that bank directly, there will probably be a hold until such time that the US Check or US Money Order is verified authentic and that the funds are available before the transaction is completed. It can take a long time.
- There is a $30 fee on all returned checks.
- ABC LLC reserves the right to reject any transaction and/or payment.
