Hoping for more traffic. I might have taken off, but true to Italian form the Museum workers were staging a wildcat strike this day. Ah, it comes back to me now - why I didn't get to Rome all those years ago. The gas station workers were striking then and the closer you got to Rome the more days they were on strike - to the point it was impractical to even make the attempt to go to the city. So this day the museums were closed. The US biennale artists staged a photo-shoot. It was far less successful than the original meeting on day 1 and indeed several of the organizers of the group missed the photo-op. But I didn't-I am in several group photos now plastered all over the internet.
Tawera and I hung out in the Biennale café for a few hours as Lianne
wandered off to Pisa. The talk this day was about sculpture. At least
one of the pieces that impressed the speaker, I found completely
unremarkable, but one of the other subjects turned out to be Eva
Moosbrugger's doomed black helmet made of Venetian glass. I really did
like that piece. Eva's pieces made me want to look inside - clever girl.
Tawera and I left together heading for dinner at Pizzeria la Campanna;
Tawera wanted a big plate of spaghetti , which is what Nikoo was eating
the other night so… Tawara wandered in and out of all sorts of shops on
Guelfa and Cavour, which I would not have done by myself, but it was an
nice diversion with her company. Anyway, eventually we did get her the
"big plate of spaghetti" and I took her picture as she requested.
