12/20/2012 is an original acrylic painting on gallery-wrapped stretched canvas. The work is 24 x 18 x 3/4 inches. It is painted on the edges so that it may be hung without a frame. 12/20/2012, by Jake Beckman, is about the end of the Mayan Calendar (according to some) in 2012. Although some will claim it's doomsday for sure, Jake prefers the alternate interpretation of "Hey, humankind has made it another 400 years, lets party!" The painting shows Jake's representation of the Mayan long count calendar as it would be on the eve of its end.  a red-crested parrot dances in the outer most cog of Jake's wheel of time. The predominant colors are warm earth toned yellow, red, and brown, with green, bright red, aqua and yellow on the parrots. In keeping with the Binary Birds social media theme the canvas is overlaid with ASCII Binary reading "12/20/2012" The Work is signed by the Artist, Jake, in the lower right hand corner. On the back of the work the title and date of creation are noted in pencil; the FAR Tag No. 17500 is placed in the region behind the signature on the back of the work. The work is federally copyrighted. All reproduction and publishing copyrights are retained by the artist.
