Quality of Light No 2, is acrylic on 18" x 24" loose canvas. Quality of Light No 2 by Jake Beckman, is part of a triptych featuring glasses and bottles lit by the moonlight; the background is very dark with dramatic lines of color: orange, blue, some yellow and red, defining the bottles, glasses and branches on the tree outside the window.
I took some photographs of some of my glassware one fine partly cloudy winter day. The light coming through the window was odd yet had an interesting quality to it. After a bit I conceived of a series of these still life and did color sketches for about 10 versions. Only three made it to canvas. As one might infer I am a fan of tequila Añejo.-Jake
