Sticks: I have always called the woods the sticks; if you have ever experience a stand of aspens, or ponderosa pine the reason is quite evident. I like how the trees present a staccato rhythm of changing color against the skyline. In the midst of a dense wood it is easy to imagine you are the only one around. Who has not lain near a campfire enjoying the quietude looking up through the trees? These paintings hark to time spent camping in Northern AZ at the So High Ranch near Flagstaff under the shadows of Mount Humphries and other places of distant memory.-Jake
