Flight of the Phoenix 30 inch x 24 inch acrylic on canvas. The
gallery wrapped canvas is painted to the exposed edge that it may be hung
without a frame.
FAR Tag # : 2658. Flight of
the Phoenix, by Jake Beckman, features a rock dove, or pigeon,
flapping over downtown Phoenix; the eye is drawn into the painting along
Washington and Jefferson Roads. The predominant colors are rich grays and
browns, with hints of white, black, red, purple, green, blue and yellow.
I have an artist-friend named Ed. He paints downtown Phoenix architecture
among other things. I guess he inspired me to create this aerial piece, which
shows the City Hall, America West Arena, Chase Field and other Phoenix
monumental architecture. The rock dove, AKA the standard pigeon, is probably the
most common bird around here hence its position the painting.-Jake
