Spiral No 1 is a depiction
of the spiral formed by successive golden means, rendered in brown and gold.
The Golden Mean is in reality a foundation for the pleasing arrangement of
artwork. In this work I took my suggestion for color directly from the subject.
The spiral depicted is actually a result of the successive applications of the
Golden Mean. Recently I had some one write me that their Golden Spiral wasn't
coming out, and indeed they suggest I had done something wrong. I explained that
they had probably gone awry by not keeping enough significant digits of the
transcendental number; they subsequently wrote me back confirming my thoughts.-
