Yucca No 1 Framed and Matted 8 inch x 10 inch acrylic on
canvas.
FAR Tag #: 610. Yucca No 1,
by Jake Beckman, is a study of the Yucca spear in full bloom, the pale white
flowers are arranged against the green and pink of the desert floor.
This plant is not so common where I live now, but I grew up around them in
the Chihuahuan desert near El Paso, Texas and Southwest New Mexico. A yucca has
long spine like leaves and tends to look like a giant sea urchin in the desert.
When it blooms it throws up a very long tall stalk which eventually sports
creamy white flowers. I think they are neat to look at-Jake.
