Prickly Pear Study No 1 is a close in study of the brilliant
pink flower against the bright green back drop of the plant's thorny paddles.
Prickly Pears grow wild through out the desert southwest. The paddles range
from bright green to dusty gray to an almost purple color and likewise the
flowers also come in a variety of colors. I don't know if the variation
represents different species of not. Anyway, like most cactus flowers of color,
they tend to bloom in the daytime, but the delicate flowers only last a short
time.-Jake
