Coryphanta Study No 1 20 inch x 24 inch acrylic on stretched canvas. The gallery wrapped canvas is painted to the exposed edge that it may be hung without a frame. FAR Tag # : 1868; Coryphanta Study No 1, by Jake Beckman, a study of the Hedgehog cactus in bloom, is set against a Penrose tile in green, blue, purple and yellow.

The subject is a "fuzzy" little cactus which sports brilliant purple flowers in the spring, beware the fuzz-they are hair fine thorns that will work their way into your skin. I am not really sure if the hedgehog cactus is coryphanta, forgive my ignorance if it is not, but having read somewhere that it was I named this painting accordingly and now I can't change it. I was mixing my beauty of the numbers as the stained glass Penrose tile in the background.-Jake
