The Cactus Flower Series: I live in the desert, and so I am much more drawn to the hardy native flora and fauna of my environment than I am to the more fragile domesticated species. I have several night-blooming cactus in my yard, and in bloom they are absolutely stunning. I am continually stuck by the contrast in textures between the thorny cactuses and the delicate, stunning flowers they create. In the Cactus Flower Series I attempt to capture some of the drama inherent to the of native desert flowers of the southwest.-Jake
