Where the Deer Roam Framed 18 inch X 24 inch acrylic on loose
canvas.
FAR Tag # : 1875. Where
the Deer Roam is a primitive painting with distressed black, brown, and blue
pumice and gesso ground; archetypal white spotted deer and a sun are lightly
carved into the gesso, then a black deer and a hand are layered on to convey the
passage of time, implying hands through the ages have created this work.
The deer carvings in this work pretty much were the impetus behind the rest
of it. In this painting I was looking for more of a sedimentary rock effect,
which then suggested other things as the painting emerged.-Jake
